Preliminary Task.

For my preliminary task i worked with Chloe Morgan, we worked well as a team both undertaking roles to achieve a good preliminary task. Before shooting anything we researched where we would shoot and allocated a time, we also did a storyboard so that we knew exactly what we shooting making filming time more efficient.
Our aim for the preliminary task was to have a character open a door, cross a room, sit down in a chair opposite another character and exchange dialogue. I believe that we did achieve the aim of the task, throughout the filming of the task we used two filming equipments which improved the level of filming, we used a tripod which, achieved the basic role of keeping our shot constantly steady and meant that we could change levels of shots, we need this so that we could pan up from our characters feet to head without the camera shaking - making it look more professional. We also used a dolly - this meant that we could film our opening shot at floor level and could move the dolly at a constant pace again keeping the shot steady. We used several shots of long shots, medium shots, close ups and over the head shots while dialogue was being spoken. We also kept to the 180 degree rule so that the characters did not switch place and it looked professional.
Through editing of the film the meaning was clear and and shots had continuity from one to the other, some shots could have been cut shorter so it flowed better and had a more 'hollywood edit' affect. However our editing was basic and had continuity but if i were to do the task again i would spend more time on the editing so that it looked more professional and flowed more so that these edits were untraceable and the scene looked like it flowed. We also encountered some problems with the situation we had picked there was too much background noise that the camera picked up so, next time i would take more care into finding a suitable place to film. By doing this task i have learnt what i need to improve on for my main task to get a high grade.
